Thanks for posting these. It was a very interesting read. I did OK in understanding many of the recommendations - but some of them I don't understand at all - though I'm not doubting them.

Things like 3betting AKs, flopping A74 with a flush draw, having an aggro monkey bet into me, so I call, brick turn, say an offsuit 8, and they bet again, I call again, river another brick, like an offsuit 3 and have them shove their remaining chips, I call, and they show up with something like 83s that flopped a flush draw and then turned a pair and rivered 2 pair. Every time.

How much in your very honest opinion do you think that Snowie improved your win rate?
Are there any particular areas in which you feel like you used to play something very wrong but you now "see the light"? (not just according to Snowie - but something materially significant?)

Is the Bovada/Ignition update really that bad? I haven't played....
Do you think the WPN update will eliminate some of the bot problem? Or is it an organized situation?

Ok, I can't stand to play these fkn things anymore. I can't play cash games on this software. So I guess that I am done with poker for the foreseeable future.

Ok, perhaps that was a little overstated. It turns out that I can play cash games on this software. It's not quite as good as it was before this update, but I should be able to capture about 90% of the volume per hour. I get a bit less than that in Zone games, and a bit more than that in regular cash games. I used to average about 500 hands per hour 2 tabling Zone, and now I get about 430 to 440 ish. I used to get about 300 hands per hour 4 tabling regular games, and now I get about 280 to 290 ish. The font is still hard to see, the chip stacks that go onto the table representing bets are still stupid as hell, as they all look essentially the same, regardless of the size of the bet or raise. In fact, a min 3b looks exactly the same as 3b shove. But I've gotten sort of used to just looking at the numbers and not paying attention to the chip stacks at all. So hopefully this won't be a problem.
The other major factor is their ridiculously stupid table sizes. The fact that 4 tables can't be fit onto a 24 inch screen without overlap is beyond ridiculous imo. If there is overlap, then you have to use the "pop to front" option so as not to time out when you can't see that it's your turn. And that whole "pop to front" thing has never worked correctly on this network. I've had it disabled for years, and it's still just as stupid today as it was years ago.
However, it turns out that all of these problems can be solved. In fact, since day 1, years ago, when these stupid tables started causing these kinds of problems, these problems were easily solvable. I didn't know it until last night, when I spent about 4 hours googling for ways to solve the problems I have with this software. But it turns out that windows itself, at least since windows 7, has had built into it, keyboard shortcuts that will control individual windows for you. Overriding what the software wants, windows makes it do what you want it to do. So with just a couple clicks on the keyboard, I can have 4 perfectly centered tables aligned in a perfect quadrant shape, no overlapping, no wasted space, everything is perfect, just like the good old days when US players could play on sites that actually had decent software. I assume that this windows function wasn't always available, as I know we used to use software that did exactly the same thing, sizing and placing tables, even moving them as we desired. Windows does exactly the same thing, it's just that windows key that no one ever uses and the arrows, simple as could be, perfect as could be.

I'm going to spend the rest of this weekend getting my brain used to working with 100bb stacks again. And then come Monday, begin a schedule of high volume cash game play. The current intent is to play 8 hours a day. Train with Snowie 2 hours a day. And study other things 1 hour per day. With the "study other things" being memorizing ranges again, as I don't remember most of what I worked so hard to learn earlier this year. Hopefully it will come back to me pretty quickly. The bankroll is now spread between Ignition and Bovada. Not sure what I'll do about this in the long run, but in the short term, I'm just going to play both sites, and treat each as it's own individual bankroll. If one starts to get significantly ahead of the other, than I'll choose between transferring money from one site to the other, simply turning some cash into bitcoin and letting it sit there instead of sitting in the poker account, or maybe even something else that I haven't thought of yet. I don't remember my old "bankroll rules", but I'll make up some new ones, like this...
I can play...
$5nl regular games, ..always. $5nl Zone games with 30 buy ins. $10nl regular games, with 20 buy ins. $25nl regular games, with 25 buy ins. $25nl Zone games, with 40 buy ins. $50nl regular games, with 30 buy ins. $50nl Zone games, with 50 buy ins.
There's no "shot taking", there's no "moving down after x buy in downswing". If at any moment I have less than the requirement, then I can't play. Thus before starting to play any higher limit, I'll need some amount to begin play with. I'm thinking 5 buy ins for everything up to $50nl would be a good place to start. And then say 8 buy ins for $50nl games. Which means...
Bankroll between...
$0 - $175 = $5nl regular tables only. $175 - $250 = $5nl regular tables and $5nl Zone. $250 - $750 = $10nl regular tables and $5nl Zone. $750 - $1125 = $25nl regular tables and $5nl Zone. $1125 - $1900 = $25nl regular tables and $25nl Zone. $1900 - $2900 = $50nl regular tables and $25nl Zone. $2900 - tbd = $50nl regular tables and $50nl Zone.
Obviously the absence of $10nl Zone causes issues, and I'll likely just play a lot more $25nl regular tables when my options are $25nl regular or $5nl Zone. But other than that, everything seems fine. If I ever get to the point that it matters, $100nl Zone also doesn't exist, it jumps from $50nl to $200nl, so the same issue will occur, should I ever get there.
Currently, bankroll on Ignition stands at $260, so it's $10nl regular and $5nl Zone. Moving down to $5nl regular and $5nl Zone if ever the bankroll dips below $200. Currently bankroll on Bovada is $415, so it's $10nl regular and $5nl Zone, same as Ignition. I'll spend most of my time on Ignition, until the bankrolls are more equal. And always make withdrawals from the larger bankroll, unless I decide at some point to just play one site, rather than 2. Which will probably happen, as it will be much faster moving up limits if I'm just doing it on one site, rather than 2 sites simultaneously. But for now, 2 sites it is.

I'm not going to post results every day as I have done in the past. I'm hoping to play around 19k hands per week with this schedule, so something like a post around the 20k hands for the month mark, another at 50k and then a final one at the end of the month. Something like that seems reasonable imo. I'll still make sporadic posts from time to time when I want to whine about something, but other than that, the posting should slow down considerably. I just don't think that it helps, I'd like to get back to playing, focused only on playing, without even looking at results on a day to day basis.

Finally, something is well timed. Only a few days before I get started again, and DriveHUD just had the most wonderful update since I bought the software. All in one update, I now have the ability to hide hero's HUD. I now have the ability to make the HUD transparent, only visible during mouse over. I can now hide that silly track table meter thing that I have never had any idea what purpose it served. And most importantly, to me anyway, Ignition/Bovada removed the color codes from their notes, but now I can color code opponents in my HUD. I get a nice color border around the entire HUD, instead of that silly tiny little thing that Bovada/Ignition used to have, but don't anymore. Plus, instead of 5 colors, I have as many as I could ever want.

Ok, I've been playing a decent amount today, trying to get used to cash games again, trying to get used to this abysmal software, and trying to get used to this HUD and the new features. While doing all of this, I've been pondering "what is the best way to, once again, go through these same limits?". I've decided that I'm simply going to blast through them as fast as possible. Until I'm playing at least $25nl again, the rest is essentially meaningless. I've crushed these limits so many times already, it's completely meaningless. With that in mind, I've been pondering, .."well then, what is the fastest way to get through these limits, build the roll and get back to $25nl and higher?". And I'm pretty sure the fastest way to do it is to 2 table $5nl Zone, while simultaneously 2 tabling regular $10nl games.
I've struggled when trying to play different limits in the past. But that was usually while playing something like 20 tables possibly even multiple sites as well, rather than just 4 tables on 1 site. I've done it today, for about an hour and a half, and I had no real issues. There was once or twice that I thought a bet was bigger or smaller than it actually was, but I always figured it out before taking any action, so it's not really an issue, unless I don't figure it out sometime. So that's the plan, grind the shit of these limits, again, until I'm certain that I'm playing as well as I was 2 months ago. Hopefully, everything works itself out in a timely manner, such that I'm back to peak performance around the same time I'm looking to be playing $25nl and higher again.

Ok, giving up on today a bit earlier than scheduled. I'm just not playing well. I've run so terribly these past 4 days, actually being more than $100 under EV earlier today, although I got some of it back, lol. But it seems that the worse I run, the worse I play. So I've been trying to think of a way to solve this problem.
It occurs to me that when I'm playing cash games, I'm really not even trying to play as I'd play if I were playing Snowie. I try to use a lot of the same ranges, especially preflop. But I make several "adjustments", and postflop I pretty much just do whatever I think should be done, without even considering how Snowie would want it to be done. Well, the simple fact of the matter is that Snowie plays better than I play. While it's true that there are certainly some exploits that can add EV to Snowie's strategy in these micro games, I still can't imagine that I, or pretty much anyone else, could actually beat the games for a higher win rate than Snowie would beat the games. So, I'm going to change things up a bit, for the rest of this month anyway, just to see how it goes.
I'm going to play a bit less, and spend that time analyzing my actual play with Snowie. I can download Ignition hands, and import them into Snowie, and Snowie will evaluate the play, same as if I was playing against Snowie. I'm only allowed to import 8000 hands per month on my current Snowie plan. That's about 250 hands per day, and that should suffice for this experiment. If all goes well, I'll consider upgrading my Snowie plan to the next higher level, which allows 100k hands to be imported monthly, which is more than I'll ever play, so it's sort of a waste, but if this is helpful, then 8k probably isn't enough.
So the plan is to play Ignition, exactly as I'd play if I were playing Snowie. It's going to be difficult, just because the bet sizes are so much different playing Snowie than playing on Ignition. It will be harder for me to bet exactly what Snowie wants, and I have no idea at all how Snowie reacts to the various bet sizes that I see from my Ignition opponents. But hopefully by the end of the month, I'll get good enough at these things that when Snowie evaluates my Ignition play, it's at least close to the same evaluation I get when I just play Snowie. Which isn't all that great lately anyway, so maybe this whole thing will help me improve there again also. I used to consistently score in the 5 to 7 error rate range against Snowie, but I'm more like 10 to 12 now. I need to improve everything, and I think playing less, while spending a little extra time trying to improve, will hopefully make a world of difference in a relatively short period of time.
I'm not going to post all of the details that I used to post. But I will post the Snowie evaluations of my Ignition play, along side the Snowie evaluation of my Snowie play. I will use a random number generator to randomly select which Ignition hands get downloaded and imported, so as not to cherry pick the sessions that I think I played best, which would obviously be the sessions where the least amount of trouble occurred and therefore would be the least helpful evaluations. So I'll import as close to 250 hands as I can get from Ignition, and also play a 250 hand session against Snowie, comparing the results and looking into the details of why I don't score as well with the Ignition hands.
I have to wait 24 hours before I can download hand histories from Ignition/Bovada, so I'll begin playing tomorrow with the intent of playing exactly as I'd play if I were playing Snowie. And then Saturday, I'll randomly pick ~250 of those hands, import them to Snowie. Then play 250 hands against Snowie, and compare results. I can't think of any better way to improve the way I'm playing, and pretty much anything that helps turn me into more of a robot has to be an improvement.

Ok, and here are the results, which I'm seeing for the first time as I write this... 266 Ignition hands, evaluated by Snowie... And 254 hands played against Snowie on the exact same day... As expected, and as has always been the case. I just don't play the same way against Snowie that I play in actual games. Next post will be diving into the 6 Ignition blunders and the 1 Snowie blunder.

The first Ignition blunder... I don't know, I can only imagine that I timed out and never saw this hand. I see that it's a 5x open, but I'd 3bet this 99.9%. DH tells me that BU is an 11/6 nit, but it's only 18 hands. I'd like to think that I made some awesome read here, but I don't remember it, so I'm guessing that I simply timed out and never saw the hand. I do on a rare occasion try to run to the restroom without sitting out, and more frequently there are times that I just don't notice that it's my turn, because the software fkn sucks. But I don't know what happened here. I'm pretty sure that if I had made some crazy sick fold because of some read that I had, then I'd remember it, it was just yesterday. I don't remember any such thing, so I feel pretty safe in assuming that I simply timed out, quite luckily as it turns out in this case.
